Solar Activity

The Solar Full Disk –

July 29, 2024

Overview

I made this from about 4 hrs of imaging on Monday (7/29) afternoon. I dropped a lot of frames since there were a bunch of clouds in and out. There is also a wandering smudge that didn’t get removed with the flats I took. There isn’t as much fun activity change at this distance/FOV. The animation is constructed of 130 stills that were each from 500 frame sequences taken every 15 seconds, with 75% of the best of the 500 integrated into a single main still. The animation is about 15 frames per second, looped a handful of times. If you zoom in, you can at least see some flares popping.
When compressed, there are still some bad frames that could have been pruned. I can confirm this was a pain in the ass to assemble.
