Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49)
In the early part of December 2020 I wanted to take a chance to revisit the Rosette Nebula in the early winter sky. This time, my focus was to capture the target using the 1600 MM cooled camera. The SHO version from above contains ~31 hrs of total integration time across all three filters.
The Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49) is a large emission nebula right in Hydrogen II gas and dust. It’s located in the constellation Monoceros and is roughly 5,000 light-years away from us.
The Rosette Nebula is home to young stars including the open cluster NGC 2244 at the center region of the nebula.
