Messier 106

Messier 106 is a spiral-ish galaxy located roughly 22-25 million light years from us. It has some pretty active hydrogen alpha regions which you can see pulled up by the Ha data in there and in general is a pretty active galaxy with its super massive black hole eating on several nearby stars. The galaxy is located in the constellation Canes Venatici which is near the Big Dipper.

Also within this image you will be able to find 5 other annotated galaxies, but I’ve been able to count at least 8 other very faint, small ones way back in the distance. They show up better in original pre-processed integrated image.
