The Swan Nebula (Messier 17)
The Swan Nebula (Messier 17) also known as the Omega Nebula or the Horseshoe Nebula is a hydrogen rich emission nebula in the constellation Sagittarius. It is roughly 5,500 light years from Earth and is full of star forming clusters. M17 is also in the same region of the sky as my last project the Eagle Nebula. The Swan is roughly 11 ly across in size.

This image is the combination of imaging over several nights from 7/1 through 7/9 and done entirely using narrowband. I used 4 hrs for the Hydrogen alpha data, 3.5 for Sulfer 2, and 3.5 for Oxygen 3. The image at the top is a mix of combing the Ha and Sii for the Red channel, Ha and Oiii for the Green, and Oiii for the Blue. Below you can find another variation that only uses the Ha and Oiii to produce a bi-color HOO image and another SHSOO mapping in RGB.
